Ajtony Csaba, Symphony Orchestra Conductor

The first concert of the UVic Wind Symphony and the UVic Symphony Orchestra’s 2024/25 season kicks off another exciting year of collaborations.

The UVic Symphony Orchestra (UViSO) opens the season celebrating music as a bridge that overarches space, time and conventions. UViSO will take an unconventional approach to performing Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D Major, punctuating the interstices with interludes by UVic students. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 is a masterpiece that marks a turning point in classical music. Composed during a time of personal turmoil, this work is a testament to Beethoven’s resilience and creative power. The symphony is filled with energetic rhythms, lyrical melodies, and bold harmonies that will captivate your heart and mind.
